As the applause of debris and bullets died away, the chaos began to ensue. People started running wildly, some in the direction of the exits, some just in any direction that didn’t look paved with blood. The atmosphere stank of anxiety and fear, a stark contrast to fifteen minutes ago. Ruben had been watching intently at the funfair unveiling before his very eyes. Well, it’s been a roller coaster of a year, we’ve had numerous mentions and publicity and we’re confident that next year is going to be even bigger. For those of you that don’t know, Emblem Divide is 50 Chapters long, plus an epilogue. By my calculations, that means we’ll finish on the 13th of March 2010. We hope to see you all there at the finish line.
So far we’ve had some awesome feedback with many people saying that they love the way the story jumps around. If you’re one of those people then you’re going to love the rest of the book. There are plenty of plot twists and turns to come. It’s crazy to think we’re already 1/5 of the way through.
For those of you that are feeling a little guilty about waiting till the entire book is released; Dont! People all read in different ways. We released serially for two reasons, a) to build a community and a campaign and b) because we thought it would be fun to journey along with the reader. So, please don’t be afraid to post comments, preferably keep spoilers to yourselves, but we welcome all other comments on the blog and the facebook page.
Also, are you aware you don’t have to visit the site every two days, we spent a long time making it so you can get to the book however suits you. On the site you should see links for RSS feeds, and email subscriptions.
Finally, have a very very Happy Christmas from all of us here at the Emblem Divide team.

The history lesson had started very slowly, and Zane had wondered at various point throughout its duration, how much longer it was going to take. He had never had a particular interest in the past, thinking it to be a useless recollection of mankind’s mistakes. He looked around the room he was sitting in and breathed a sigh.

Oken stood facing El Morra. The sword he had been given was heavier than Bethany and Oken felt sure that some inexperienced cretin had been using it to hack at metal pillars, judging by the dents in the blade. Oken wanted it to be over, but he also now wanted to live, something that he had never felt before in the ring. He wanted to look up at Jay but decided against the idea. He wasn’t putting on the show he had last week and she would only worry about him.

The tension was rising inside the Zone and the second match between two mediocre opponents was about to begin. Oken watched them leaving the spectator stands, one at each end, and slowly make their way down the stairs to the platform below. One of them was holding a staff, much like Yaz had used, the other had two medium length swords.

Today, Emblem Divide made the wordpress homepage for a short while. This gave us a well needed boost in views as well as hopefully planting the ED seed in peoples minds. The hardest part of this project by far has been the process we are currently trudging through, tweeting, shouting, emailing, begging, bugging and generally annoying anyone or anything that I have known to get the word out there.
I want to say a big big thank you to the wordpress.com team, Darren Kitchen of hak5.org, Jordan, Luke, Katie, Lynsey, Mandy, Og, Wei, John, Jason, Saq, Tay, Ben, Dave, Alex, all you other cool peeps who have been supporting us, Damien the whipcracker, theme guru and general marketting d00d, and of course my wife, for providing some awesome graphics, supporting a weirdo like me and for being the reason the book exists in the first place.

The rest of the week passed fairly slowly and Oken did not see Jay again. She was very busy with her university work and although she dearly wanted to see Oken, she knew that Friday night was only a few days away. It was what had kept her going. Oken had also been wishing for Friday to come and now he had finished the week and it was finally here. It was the chance for him to show, once again, his mastery.

The train was moving faster now and he was sure he couldn’t stop it even if he wanted to, but he had to try. He was sure it was his destiny. He was meant to stop this. If he didn’t? Well he really didn’t want to think about that. The consequences were too much to bare. This was a decision he’d made unreservedly and he wasn’t about to back out now.

The next morning when Oken awoke, he was reminded of the surprising length of time that it had taken for him to get to sleep. He reminisced about the evening’s events and of course Jay. Oken didn’t want to think about it. Every time he did, a strange feeling began to wash over him. He looked over at the half open window and saw the many trees which blocked his complete view of the sun. He could hear the birds twittering in the branches which hung outside and he smiled.
